You're contradicting yourself now. We're active. We're actively answering your questions and addressing your concerns. How are you rarely seeing us?

Not so much contradicting: Talking to you here is the first time I've seen you properly to talk in some time. I'll admit, some people are around a lot more, but it still feels like we have to actively seek you out to get answers. I sit in chat for many hours of the day, many days a week, with limited interaction with mods. This includes during weekends. I'm not asking for 24/7 presence, but idk I just feel like having to actually hunt you out on specific threads can be daunting for some users. When I say rarely see the staff, I imply in a moderating sense. Ill admit you're all punctual in replying here, but as said, its just frustrating perhaps that I have to kick up such a fuss here in order to get that sort of instant response.

They are I guess in essence, because its updates in terms of success. I'm talking more updates on projects, i.e. just a quick word about it. I wouldn't say there had been updates on projects all over the place, but idk I just feel like hearing more about what is planned would be nice is all. During the revival we had this giant list of things that were going to happen, and when they would happen by, with a quick exploration of what they were. Something like that, considering the state the forum has been in, would be a nice touch, I think.

Is there a feature where we can access the chat without going to the gtf.org as my school blocks it as it has the word "gay" in and is therefore porn? I know stupid…

Try using tinyurl or a different proxy to access the chat via a different url.

We don't have a closet url for chat, so this may be your best option. Let me know how it goes!

Use the Chrome extension Ultrasurf. It's a great proxy.

tinyurl.com

enter the chat url and they'll give you a new url for it.

Also try what Kyler said - is the closet theme also restricted? Try accessing the chat from the gt-forum link.

On the phone with the new site theme I'm noticing some profile pictures are cover the very start of the message field but only when I hold my phone in landscape.

I think George did well voicing his concerns but while some kind of short minutes of the week bulletin write up might be a good thing, I don't agree with too much reporting on in progress work. It's easier to communicate the status of a project by the milestone not by 'what philosophical question surrounding a project was answered this week' sorted by whom and further ranked by level of input.

Kyler said it well that the threads covering official events like the new theme are evidence of themselves.
There is some case to be made for having something like a trello board for gtf but I'd wonder if whatever Rene's using as a project tracker doesn't also have sensitive info.
Also when it comes to having the confidence to talk with staff directly even if its just out of the blue, well that's more on your ends I feel.

I set something up that should help:

http://chat.gt-forum.org

(I haven't made this the default in closet mode yet because, since it's a different domain, it doesn't pick up the cookie from gayteenforum.org and so it doesn't log you in automatically.)

Thanks, that seems to happen on phones depending on screen resolution. I'm looking into ways of fixing this. What I'd really like to do is make it so that on phones, posts occupy the whole width of the screen, but I'll need to dig into the CSS more to make that happen.

I just use Git for revision tracking and Remember The Milk to keep track of all my tasks. There is indeed some sensitive information involved.

I thought about this idea for a minute and came up with 3 reasons why a public project-tracking system may not work out as well as hoped — at least as it relates to me working on code:

  1. I've found that having a public list of everything I was supposed to be doing caused me some anxiety, which actually made it harder for me to get it all done. I don't know about the CAs working on social media etc., but for me personally, it turns out I work a lot better without a public list of anything other than what I've already done and can proudly present.
  2. I imagine that when you can see what's being worked on and when it's hoped it'll be finished, you'll start to expect it, and if it doesn't get done on time, you'll be disappointed (which also ties in with the anxiety it can cause in the person to whom the task was assigned). And once it then got done later, you may not be as pleased as you would have been if you'd simply seen it announced when done without having been explicitly waiting for it.
  3. Establishing and maintaining a public list of any kind would require a substantial investment in time in and of itself, especially using a new third-party system. I'm sure there would be value in the outcome, but I tend to feel that that time would be better spent actually getting the stuff done.

I think such systems may be more useful for very large groups of people working on big projects, especially within organizations where people get paid to meet deadlines together and stuff. I don't think they are as suitable for hobby projects like this.

Hey folks. Sorry to bother you but this is still plaguing me. I've tried restart, update software and use different browser (chrome) but still just a white page :(

For mobile, please us html5chat.gayteenforum.org.

I have and it still doesn't work :( have tried everything.

Hey, are you possibly somehow ending up on https://chat.gayteenforum.org/? That could result in a white blank page.

The chat software doesn't support HTTPS, so you need: http://chat.gayteenforum.org/ (or http://chat.gt-forum.org/)

(The problem is that modern browsers don't like HTTP elements being shown on HTTPS pages. I set it up so the only links you should ever be shown for chat take you to the HTTP address, but this is the only situation I could think of in which you would see a blank page.)

So I made some changes to the Tumblr and thought it'd be good to share them here in case anyone has some feedback.

-First of all, I added a 'Get to know us!'-page, which will feature the entire staff.

Find it here

If you hover over the picture, a short introduction appears with username, name and some basic facts. If you scroll down, you'll see 2 links: 'more *insert name here*', which will lead to a list of some quirky and hopefully fun questions I sent out to every admin/mod/CA, and 'Posts', which leads to the /tagged page of the respective staff member so you can see which posts they made. The idea is to make us seem more accessible to people who come across our Tumblr and show them how fun/interesting our members are! :P

You'll notice that a lot of the profiles still have template pictures, empty facts and empty about/post pages, as I'm still in the process of collecting information. I'll continue working on this, but I thought it might be good to share it with you guys already.

-A second new page is 'Of the month'

Check it here

Currently it contains the following 4 categories:
-Member: From now on, I'll send each Member of the Month the same list of questions as I sent to the mod team. So, if they want to, they can be featured on our social media. Kamiel already agreed to this, so you can check out his profile right now. :keke: (I know Kaspar missed out on this, but if he wants to, I'll send him the questions as well!)
-Song: Randomly chose a song right now, but maybe it's a good idea to have a thread to nominate these, as well as the other categories? When we pick a new one, we'll post about it on the Tumblr/Twitter with the necessary tags. Fandoms are a big part of social media, so hopefully this way we can reach more people. If not, at least it spices up our tumblr page a little!
-Movie/show: Basically just picked one from boiii's list for this. (but I also happen to like it a lot :eli: )
-Book

Other than that, Kyler and I fooled around a bit with the banners and themes (twitter also got a new look, in an attempt to create a more uniform aesthetic), we will continue to do so to improve it further! If anyone has any comments, don't hold back!

As many of you may have noticed there's some sort of bugs in the chat that's screwed it up, everytime I go on the chat it freezes and gives my a white blank webpage, this seems to be because of a guest user sending some sort of file, this user also managed to change his name to : blush face admin

I'll send screenshots later when they've loaded

Hope this helps
